I rapporti già non idilliaci fra Booker T e la TNA si sono incrinati ancor di più quando agli utlimi tapings di Impact, il suddetto si è rifiutato di jobbare per Matt Morgan, wrestler su cui la TNA sta puntando molto.

Rise and fall of WCW 1
Dopo più di otto anni da quando il nuovo program director della Time Warner Jamie Kellner, nella prima decisione presa dopo essere stato assunto, annunciò la cancellazione del pro wrestling dai palinsesti della TNT e della TBS, è ancora più chiaro il fatto che la morte della World Championship Wrestling sia stata la storia più significativa degli utlimi 20 anni.
Quella morte cambiò l'intera industria, non solo nel 2001, ma per sempre. Con la difficoltà per nuovi competitori di entrare nel business per via delle onerose spese cui avrebbero dovuto far fronte, anche "a causa" della nascita negli anni precedenti di Raw e Nitro, programmi da cui scaturì la monday night war e che portò il prodotto televisivo a livelli mai visti prima, il circuito del pro wrestling del Nord America si trovò senza un valido secondo competitore e si ridussero notevolmente le opportunità di lavoro per molti wrestlers, a tal punto da tornare all'epoca pre-televisiva.
In questi otto anni un'altra cosa è cambiata: per anni la WCW ha avuto una nomea negativa. Era vista come la terribile promotion che possedeva enormi vantaggi che nessuna compagnia negli USA ha mai avuto e un roster pieno di talenti che tutti invidiavano, ma che a causa dell'incompetenza non furono sfruttati a dovere, portando la federazione a perdere quantità enormi di capitali in brevissimo tempo.
Oggi, invece, un sacco dei lati negativi sono stati dimenticati e in molti sono diventati nostalgici del 1998, quando le due promotions misero tutte le carte sul tavolo, dando inizio ad una battaglia che rese il pro wrestling più mainstream che mai. A quei tempi, midcarders come Scott Norton, Rick Steiner e Stevie Ray
portavano senza fatica a casa fra i $750,000 e i $900,000 per anno.
Anche all'apice del successo, il morale nel backstage WCW era pessimo. Gli headliners formavano un loro gruppo separato dagli altri, tenendo sempre lontano dal main event coloro che li avrebbero costretti a lavorare più sodo, che era più giovane, o semplicemente non faceva parte della loro band. Il più delle volte quei wrestlers venivano tenuti lontani dai piani importanti della federazione con la tipica frase :"Quando hanno mai contato qualcosa?".
Eric Bischoff, fra la fine del 1998 e l'inizio del 1999, ossia quando la WCW perdeva terreno nei confronti della WWF, che ci credesse o meno arrivò a dire che Austin e The Rock erano solo figure di passaggio e che chiunque avesse avuto a disposizione Hulk Hogan alla fine avrebbe prevalso.
Ma una volta, in un team meeting, urlò nei confronti dei wrestlers che continuavano a lamentarsi, nonostante un trattamento di tutto rispetto, questa frase :"Un giorno tutti voi ragazzi ripenserete a questo periodo come il punto più alto delle vostre carriere." Ovviamente non fu così per tutti, ma per la maggior parte.
Alcuni dei veterani, che già in precedenza assistettero alle varie fasi di gloria e di buio del pro wrestling, riuscirono a capire e vedere l'arrivo della caduta già nel 1998, quando la WCW era nel pieno delle sue forze.
Uscendo dall'arena dopo la fine della winning streak di Goldberg per mano di Nash, Bobby Heenan disse a Mike Tenay che quello era l'inizio della fine e Tenay rispose che la compagnia aveva appena compiuto un terribile errore.
La WCW aveva appensa stabilito nelle settimane precedenti vari records per spettatori presenti nei live shows in St. Louis e Houston.
Tony Schiavone, d'altro canto, disse ad entambi di essere completamente fuori strada.
Altre persone, di opinioni opposte sul merito ma senza il beneficio dell'esperienza, credettero che in quel momento il wrestling aveva trovato il suo posto come sport nazionale e che i ragazzi lo preferissero al baseball e addirittura all'NFL. Giacchè i ratings mostravano che l'audience era composto in gran parte da adolescenti, ritennero giusto pensare di aver creato una nuova generazione di fans e che perciò le cose non sarebbero cambiate per molti anni ancora.
Essendo stato il dvd "storico" più atteso per quest'anno, comparandolo anche al dvd sulla ECW, questa opera non ha per nulla mantenuto le aspettative. Incredibilmente, il nome Jamie Kellner non viene mai menzionato. Kellner non è stato coinvolto nella caduta della WCW e magari la federazione sarebbe fallita nel 2001 anche senza la sua decisione scellerata. O forse con un a nuova gestione, nuovi talenti, un booking più intelligente e un pò di tempo, una nuova federazione poteva rinascere ed avere successo.
Quello che Kellner ha fatto è stato sparare il colpo che ha messo fine a 29 anni in cui il wrestling è stato importante in varie fasi e spesso il programma più seguito nei networs della Turner. A quel tempo Ted Turner non aveva più il potwere che ebbe agli inizi degli anni '90 quando l'assistente Scott Sassa gli consigliò di cancellare il pro wrestling e di sostuìituirlo con più redditizzi films. Turner gli rispose che il wrestling aiutò la costruzione della stazione e che non avrebbe più riparlato di quell'argomento.
Nel 2001 vi fu ben poca opposizione poichè i ratings erano nettamente calati negli ultimi anni. Parte del declino, comunque, fu una scelta adottata da Eric Bischoff, il quale, anche se non era nè il proprietario o il booker dell'epoca, tenne fuori dai giochi gli elementi più importanti della federazione, visto che lui e i suoi finanziatori erano pronti ad assumere le redini. Bischoff volle tenere fuori dai programmi tv i nomi più importanti, lasciare che le cose andassero sempre più a fondo per poi ritornare con l'idea dell'avvento di una nuova era, capitanata dai ritorno di Sting, Bill Goldberg, Ric Flair e forse di Hulk Hogan, il debutto di Rob Van Dam e di Joey Styles come voce del nuovo prodotto.
Per quanto riguarda la fase della caduta, il dvd propone varie scelte stupide come il finger of doom che riconsegnò il world title ad Hulk Hogan, Jeff Jarrett che si fa schienare da Hogan a Bash at the Beach 2000 (presentato come uno shoot quando in realtà fu un worked-shoot, con Hogan, Eric Bischoff e Vince Russo che avevano pianificato il tutto per depistare i wrestlers, Jeff incluso, ma che poi sfociò in una causa legale fra Hogan e Russo quando quest'ultimo fece un promo sul ring non pianificato) e David Arquette world champion.
Le ragioni e le circostanze della morte sia della Jim Crockett Promotions e della WCW sono così numerose e complicate che per raccontare tutti i fatti sarebbero servite 3 ore giusto per loro. In entrambi i casi, questo dvd non ha nemmeno toccato il primo strato dei vari problemi. La narrativa del dvd è costituita da Crockett che scopre dal suo contabile che era pieno di debiti e perciò vende. La WCW propone un prodotto stupido alla fine e poi un giorno organizzano il dual Nitro/Raw feed con Shane McMahon in Panama City. E questa era la WCW.
Non c'è stata alcuna menzione dell'accordo raggiunto e della press conference tenuta con Bischoff e membri della Fusient in cui si ufficializzava la vendita della WCW ai suddetti, fra l'altro con la garanzia che i programmi futuri sarebbero andati in onda sulla TNT e sulla TBS. Si aggiunga che Bischoff in quel momento non era al corrente del fatto che, ancora prima della decisione di Kellner, era stata decisa la cancellazione di Thunder e lo spostamento di Nitro sulla TBS, che avrebbe diminuito l'esposizione mediatica e gli introiti pubblicitari.
Anche dopo la press conference e l'annuncio della vendita, a Stu Snyder, ex executive della Turner che all'epoca lavorava per la WWF, venne detto chiaro e tondo che l'accordo annunciato non era stato fatto e che la WCW non sarebbe mai stata venduta a Bischoff.

Charly Manson stated today that he feels like his career has been great so far but he has one more goal to reach and that is to work in Arena Mexico. Charly said that he wants to work a little longer on the independent circuit with Los Perros del Mal before he goes to Arena Mexico because he wants to get out of the AAA mindset of working matches and get back to a more traditional style. Charly said that AAA doesn’t care about traditional wrestling and that they tried to take his dignity but he had to get out of there to keep it intact. Charly said that his cycle in AAA is now over and it’s time for him to tackle a new world of lucha libre although it is bittersweet because AAA was his home for so long and he thought he would never leave but things will work out for the best.
It was announced at Arena Isabel in Cuernavaca on Thursday night that there will be a special tribute show for the ailing Pierroth in the building on 10/29 featuring some big names from EMLL as usual plus other special guests.
It was also announced on today’s A Ras del Lona that after 10 long years, STEEL is returning to Arena Mexico very soon. For those of you who don’t know, Steel was the gimmick that Val Venis used for EMLL in the late 90’s.

Hey Dave,
Just got back from TNA in Dublin not long ago, was a really fun show.
They drew really badly, entire second tier was curtained off and there
were a lot of empty seats in the lower deck:

Borash teased that they might do a PPV here and both he and Foley said
we were "honestly" the loudest fans they've had on the whole tour. The
fans who came were actually very into it and there was a good
atmosphere throughout.
1. Hernandez beat Sheik Abdul Bashir with the Border Toss in a fun,
short opener. Scattered "USA!" chants and some fans telling Bashir to
"go home". Never ceases to be weird.
2. Velvet Skye beat Awesome Kong and Taylor Wild in another short match.
3. Samoa Joe choked out Jay Lethal to retain the X Division title in
the best match on the show. They went about fifteen minutes and did a
ton of stuff, Joe was way over as a babyface even though he tried to
turn himself a few times. Great nearfalls at the end, this really got
the crowd going.
4. Beer Money beat the British Invasion. Crowd was awesome for this.
British Invasion did a whole anti-Irish spiel pre-match, looking to
hold a referendum among the fans in the building (following on from
yesterday's passing of the Lisbon Treaty) by asking for a show of
hands as to who wanted Ireland to rejoin the United Kingdom. Ton of
boos for that before they launched into "God Save The Queen".
Interrupted by Beer Money's theme, which immediately had people going
nuts for them. Really fun match with the best heat of the night.
5. Suicide beat Rhino with a Sunset Flip after reversing a Gore
attempt. Suicide also kicked out of the Gore. Crowd wasn't that into
this, the whole Suicide deal was kind of uncomfortable to watch. The
building was full of kids and he kept doing that hand motion where he
pretends to blow his brains out.
6. Team 3D & Abyss beat Angle & Booker & Steiner with Foley as the
special enforcer. Foley was a complete babyface here for some reason,
despite I believe turning on Abyss on TV not long ago. Match was
pretty fun. Angle did virtually nothing, which was weird, Booker and
Steiner did pretty much all the work. Steiner nearly killed Devon on a
top rope belly to belly. They worked the crowd really well and it was
decent despite everyone being pretty clearly broken down. They did a
long, fun post match deal with Foley giving away a piece of the table
to a lucky kid.
They had posters everywhere outside the building and in the media this
week advertising the show with Jarrett and Styles being major parts of
it. People were very disappointed that AJ wasn't there especially, it
seemed.
Really liked the show anyway, will certainly go again if they come back.

NOAH "GREAT VOYAGE 2009 IN TOKYO ~MITSUHARU MISAWA, ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS~", 27.09.2009
Noah's first Budokan show since the passing of Mitsuharu Misawa was, top to bottom, a very enjoyable three hours. There were no match of the years, or really anything four stars or above, but nothing was bad and it was an extremely easy show to watch.
Akihiko Ito vs. Genba Hirayanagi
Decent enough match from the two generational rivals. They worked hard, although the crowd wasn�t with them the whole way. Genba was fun with his heelishness and Ito has great comebacks. His duck under heel kick is one of the coolest spots going. It always gets a great reaction. Genba won after a low blow and his power up clothesline.

Atsushi Aoki vs. NOSAWA Rongai
This was originally supposed to be Aoki vs. Kento Miyahara, but Miya fell ill the day before the show and if there�s one man in Japan who you can call at the last minute and KNOW he will get his butt to your show it�s NOSAWA. Very weird seeing him in a NOAH ring though. He immediately tried to get the crowd involved and it worked. This turned into a very fun little match and NOSAWA put Aoki over like a champ, selling all his strikes like death and tapping the second he was put in Aoki�s armbar which made the move look like one of the hottest finishers in wrestling. Very enjoyable little match.

Taiji Ishimori & Ricky Marvin vs. Tsuyoshi Kikuchi & Yoshinobu Kanemaru
Nothing drops your jaw more that Ricky Marvin when he�s �on�. This was one of his �on� nights. He busted out loads of cool stuff and actually far outshined Taiji who�s� been far more impressive in the last 18 months.� This may have been Kikuchi�s last match in NOAH and he added a nice dynamic to it, being completely confused by the crazy moves and just attempting to get in a forearm strike or a headbutt whenever he could. Taiji went over Kikuchi with a 450 and a Touch Out (to taunt Kanemaru).

Bison Smith vs. Shuhei Taniguchi
Bison Smith has cracked the Taniguchi code. The recipe to having a good match with him is to just kill him with spectacular power moves, beat the tar out of him and then let him make a comeback with suplexes and most importantly NO STRIKES (because Shuhei, God bless him, has the most horrible looking strikes I�ve seen in ages). So congrats to Bison. Now everybody else follow the recipe. Some of Smith�s offense included a running powerbomb from the ramp into the ring, a gorilla press to the outside, a run down the ramp diving shoulder tackle (over the ropes), and a dive from the top to the floor (yup by Bison). When Taniguchi came back with Germans and other throws, the crowd rallied behind him. He was eventually put down by a Bisontennial. Real fun stuff.

Minoru Suzuki, Jun Akiyama & Takashi Sugiura vs. KENTA, Muhommad Yone & Takeshi Rikio
This match made little sense as far as pairings go but it definitely delivered a fun outing. Suzuki was making his first appearance on the green mat in years and he and KENTA really got into it big. They teased some conflict between partners, Suzuki and Akiyama too. Sugiura looked great throughout although he was not given a major role until the finish. At one point Yone squished Suzuki�s face with a legdrop and boy did he PAY for it, just getting brutalised by the former Pancrase star (and Paul Lazenby tormentor). No real extended heat segment as they just kinda went back and forth giving the fans as many different pairings in the ring as possible. It came down to Rikio and Sug, reminiscent of a bigtime Budokan tag in 2007, only this time the smaller Sugiura came out on top, hooking in a tight ankle lock for the tap (a rarity in NOAH).

Kensuke Sasaki, Takeshi Morishima & Katsuhiko Nakajima vs. Genichiro Tenryu, Yoshinari Ogawa & Kotaro Suzuki
This was basically Kensuke Office vs. �Team Misawa�.� Tenryu worked far harder than he had too, which is a credit to him. The highlight was a big chop duel �between he and Kensuke. The Nakajima/Kotaro sections brought the top class junior action, and the Morishima sections brought the top class flying fatboy action (he was really moving on this night). Ogawa was typically solid. Lots of good action towards the finish. They built to Kotaro and Morishima being left alone in the ring, with Kotaro using Misawa elbows to try to topple the big man. It was to no avail, as he was eventually downed by numerous lariats and Backdrop Drivers.

Akira Taue & Keiji Muto vs. Kenta Kobashi & Yoshihiro Takayama
First time ever meeting of Muto and Kobashi in this one, and it had the crowd going crazy. The entrances were all pretty goosebump inducing and you had the feel that perhaps your were about to see a hell of a spectacle (in spite of the obvious physical limitations). Takayama and Taue started and got a good reaction, but when they both tagged out the roof came off for their partners. Kobashi started to get the better of the All Japan president with chops, so Muto bolted outside, hopped the rail and grabbed a chair. Taue talked him out of it and cooler heads prevailed. �They match was basically a collection of cool moments that the crowd ate up and it was all strung together very nicely. We�re dealing with smart wrestlers here folks. They ain�t no rookies. Taue busted out a shining wizard towards the finish and that was probably the spot of the match, although Kobashi doing a hurracanrana came close. Both Muto and Kobashi teased moonsaults but they were stopped in their tracks. Finish was Kobashi downing Taue with a lariat. Memorable match for sure.

Go Shiozaki vs. Akitoshi Saito
Didn�t know what to expect from this going in. I�m not a huge fan of Saito�s work by any means, but he was obviously going to try to give the performance of a lifetime here. He pretty much did, as I know I�ve never seen him look any better. They were times when it wasn�t getting the biggest of responses but all their big moves got the desired reactions, and for the finishing stretch the place was making a lot of noise. A lot of great striking exchanges throughout with Go�s elbows, superkicks and chops looking so so good. Saito hung with him and threw out plenty of heavy duty stuff himself. Finish saw Go survive the backdrop driver (which had obvious connotations) hit a rolling elbow, a perfect Emerald Frosion and a Go Flasher (he busted out his super high moonsault earlier) to get the win and retain the GHC title. Good match.

NOAH "GREAT VOYAGE 2009 IN TOKYO ~MITSUHARU MISAWA, ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS~", 27.09.2009
Noah's first Budokan show since the passing of Mitsuharu Misawa was, top to bottom, a very enjoyable three hours. There were no match of the years, or really anything four stars or above, but nothing was bad and it was an extremely easy show to watch.
Akihiko Ito vs. Genba Hirayanagi
Decent enough match from the two generational rivals. They worked hard, although the crowd wasn�t with them the whole way. Genba was fun with his heelishness and Ito has great comebacks. His duck under heel kick is one of the coolest spots going. It always gets a great reaction. Genba won after a low blow and his power up clothesline.

Atsushi Aoki vs. NOSAWA Rongai
This was originally supposed to be Aoki vs. Kento Miyahara, but Miya fell ill the day before the show and if there�s one man in Japan who you can call at the last minute and KNOW he will get his butt to your show it�s NOSAWA. Very weird seeing him in a NOAH ring though. He immediately tried to get the crowd involved and it worked. This turned into a very fun little match and NOSAWA put Aoki over like a champ, selling all his strikes like death and tapping the second he was put in Aoki�s armbar which made the move look like one of the hottest finishers in wrestling. Very enjoyable little match.

Taiji Ishimori & Ricky Marvin vs. Tsuyoshi Kikuchi & Yoshinobu Kanemaru
Nothing drops your jaw more that Ricky Marvin when he�s �on�. This was one of his �on� nights. He busted out loads of cool stuff and actually far outshined Taiji who�s� been far more impressive in the last 18 months.� This may have been Kikuchi�s last match in NOAH and he added a nice dynamic to it, being completely confused by the crazy moves and just attempting to get in a forearm strike or a headbutt whenever he could. Taiji went over Kikuchi with a 450 and a Touch Out (to taunt Kanemaru).

Bison Smith vs. Shuhei Taniguchi
Bison Smith has cracked the Taniguchi code. The recipe to having a good match with him is to just kill him with spectacular power moves, beat the tar out of him and then let him make a comeback with suplexes and most importantly NO STRIKES (because Shuhei, God bless him, has the most horrible looking strikes I�ve seen in ages). So congrats to Bison. Now everybody else follow the recipe. Some of Smith�s offense included a running powerbomb from the ramp into the ring, a gorilla press to the outside, a run down the ramp diving shoulder tackle (over the ropes), and a dive from the top to the floor (yup by Bison). When Taniguchi came back with Germans and other throws, the crowd rallied behind him. He was eventually put down by a Bisontennial. Real fun stuff.

Minoru Suzuki, Jun Akiyama & Takashi Sugiura vs. KENTA, Muhommad Yone & Takeshi Rikio
This match made little sense as far as pairings go but it definitely delivered a fun outing. Suzuki was making his first appearance on the green mat in years and he and KENTA really got into it big. They teased some conflict between partners, Suzuki and Akiyama too. Sugiura looked great throughout although he was not given a major role until the finish. Ultimate Fighter ratings
Last night's Ultimate Fighter did a 3.7 rating and 5.3 million viewers.
The fight itself drew 6.1 million viewers. It was the highest rated MMA television show in U.S. history.
The show did a 6.9 rating in Males 18-34, highest in the history of the station, beating the Ortiz-Shamrock fight in 2006. Kimbo vs. Roy Nelson did a 7.86 rating in the Male 18-34 demo.
In Males 18-34, nothing on television this week except Monday Night Football, even first-run network series, beat it. Only seven network shows during this fall season had as many Male 18-34 viewers.
Between the live show and immediate repeat, there were 6.8 million viewers. Keep in mind this total doesn't include DVR viewership, which last season for the series on average increased viewership 39%.
