Come già accennato, la Strikeforce ha acquisito 42 contratti di fighters e l'intera video library dalla Pro Elite per $3 milioni di dollari. Come da accordi, alla Pro Elite sono stati cancellati tutti i debiti che aveva accumulato nei confronti di Showtime e della CBS (una decina di milioni).
La Strikeforce ha annunciato Frank Shamrock vs. Nate Diaz per lo show del 11 Aprile. Rispetto al solito Frank dovrà perdere molto peso per arrivare ai 179 pounds richiesti, mentre per Diaz sarà normale amministrazione.
Allo show ci sarà anche Scott Smith vs. Benji Radach.

Come già scritto, la Midway ha dichiarato bancarotta. Una dozzina sono le società creditrici. In cima alla lista c'è Wells Fargo, in credito di $150 milioni, seguita da Acquisition Holdings Subsidiary, creditrice per $40 milioni. Con l'NBA sono in debito di $17.2 milioni. La Midway ha perso $10 milioni con il videogame TNA; le copie distribuite sono state 1 milione di cui vendute 450.000.

Katsuhiko Nakajima ritorna in Ring of Honor

Ring of Honor officials, in conjunction with Kensuke Office, are proud to announce the ROH return of the current GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion, Katsuhiko Nakajima. On February 11th, Nakajima squared off with KENTA at the Kensuke Office event held at Korakuen Hall and after nearly forty minutes of hard hitting action, the challenger was able to capture the title from the champion.
Now, on April 3rd and 4th, Nakajima will make his return to ROH competition for the first time in 2009 as part of the pair of huge events taking place in Houston, TX. In each of his previous appearances in ROH, Nakajima made quite an impression on the fans and the members of the ROH locker room. At “Glory by Honor VII”, Nakajima actually challenged Bryan Danielson for the GHC Jr. Title he now holds in an epic contest. While at “All Star Extravaganza IV” and “Final Battle 2008” he and Kensuke Sasaki made an impact on the chests and faces of Roderick Strong & Brent Albright and the Briscoes respectively.

Stando ad ora, ambo le cinture faranno parte del brand di Smackdown; quindi sarà interessante vedere l'evolversi delle storyline sotto questo aspetto.

Osaka Pro "HURRICANE '09"-Report e Risultati
It only happens once a year and today, Osaka Pro held its annual Hurricane event, drawing over 5,000 fans (down from over 6,000 last year). The main event saw Billyken Kid capture his 3rd Osaka Pro Title by defeating Hideyoshi and ending the former tag specialist’s six month reign. Both men exchanged avalanche style moves, with Hideyoshi using the Rakujou and BKK hitting the Koumori Tsuri Otoshi. The Vertigo was not enough to pin Hideyoshi so Billy went to his now little-used Firebird Splash to obtain the three count at over 27:00. It should be noted that this match was 54 seconds longer than their August 2008 encounter at IMP Hall. Afterwards, BKK thanked the fans for their support and pointed out how he got over the hardship of yet another injury. He also praised Hideyoshi’s effort.
There are also new Osaka Pro Tag Champions in the form of the Great Sasuke & Asian Cooger as they defeated Tigers Mask & Black Buffalo. It was sweet revenge for Cooger as he rebounded from losing the tag belts on 1/1 to pin Tigers again with a cross arm suplex hold. You may recall that this is the same move that Cooger used to eliminate Tigers from the Tennozan tournament. The match expectedly was in the realm of a hardcore style, with weapons like a ladder used. For Tigers & Buffalo, it’s a huge setback for not only them, but the Rudo Army as they went 0-3 today, with Masamune & Orochi losing earlier on the card to Ultimo Dragon & Tsubasa. How will Tigers and company regroup?
The third loss for the Rudo Army came at the hands of Zeus as he spoiled the Bodygurd’s debut by pinning him with the NO19. The hall buzzed loudly at the power battle between the two, with the Bodygurd stunning everybody by kicking out of Zeus’ Jihad at one. Zeus was taken down with the Bounce, but the Stronger managed to get up and hit a series of lariats, followed up by the NO19 for the victory. Despite the earlier bad blood, Zeus and the Bodygurd shook hands. Zeus then made his announcement to the crowd that he is leaving the world of professional wrestling and going to undertake a career in boxing.
Blood & Guts’ Atsushi Kotoge, Daisuke Harada & Tadasuke defended their home turf proudly today by pushing back Kaientai Dojo’s Omega trio of Makoto Oishi, Shiori Asahi & KAZMA. It was a hectic fight that came down to Harada and Oishi. Harada managed to outlast the decorated champion, using the Katayama German Suplex to hold Oishi’s shoulders to the mat. Harada expectedly challenged Oishi for the Independent Jr. Heavyweight Title afterwards. Oishi originally received Harada’s challenge in late 2008, but kinda brushed him off. Now with the loss, Oishi most likely will accept in order to get back his win. Is the full war between B&G and Omega really over though?
West Gate Pro-Wrestling charmed fans with their comedy during intermission, but Kuishinbo Kamen, Riki Kansyu & Tatsumi Ebenami came out and an impromptu tag match was held. Kansyu & Ebenami defeated Antonio Koinoki & Jiro Hachimitsu in just under 4 minutes, much to the delight of the crowd.
The eight-man comedy affair was entertaining to the fans, with Miracle loudly booed throughout for his sexual harrassment of the women wrestlers. Dump Matsumoto though crushed both Dragon Gate’s Stalker Ichikawa and Kanjyuro Matsuyama with a diving body press to pick up the win.

Come tutti ora sappiamo, Ric Flair parteciperà a vari eventi della Ring Of Honor a partire dallo show in St.Louis il 13 Marzo. Naturalmente la ROH ha tentato sin da subito l'ingaggio del Nature Boy, ma le restrizioni imposte al wrestler dal contratto con la WWE hanno prolungato i tempi.
Sarà interessante vedere in che modo sarà coinvolto ed usato negli shows.
Da Venerdì sono disponibili i dvd di All-Star Extravaganza IV e Final Battle 2008. Da quest'ultimo titolo imperdibili i match:

La ROH annuncerà i match per i tapings dello show tv che andrà in onda su HDNet verso la fine di questa settimana. Gli shows iniziali saranno indirizzati per coloro che non seguono assiduamente la federazione. Verranno perciò raccontate storyline e verranno introdotti i wrestlers più rappresentativi.
Paul London è alquanto evasivo davanti a domande su un suo ritorno in ROH, perciò è probabile che ciò possa avvenire in breve tempo; magari nel corso degli shows in Houston, essendo lui nativo del Texas.
Non è da escludere un possibile utilizzo di Petey Williams e Jimmy Rave, quando i contratti con la TNA permetterà loro di fare ciò.
D'Lo Brown tornerà per il settimo anniversario della compagnia, il 21 Marzo, in New York City. In futuro è possibile un impiego di Val Venis.
E' improbabile che i wrestlers della Dragon Gate partecipino agli shows in Houston in Aprile. Dopo il dark match di CIMA a Smackdown, i rumors asseriscono che i rapporti collaborativi con la ROH siano giunti al termine.
Anche la entrance theme di Bryan Danielson, "Final Countdown", dovrà essere sostituita per motivi di diritti d'autore, troppo onerosi per la compagnia.
Il prossimo live event della ROH avrà luogo il 27 Febbraio in Danbury, CT, che vedrà in azione il campione ROH Nigel McGuinness vs. Tyler Black vs. Jerry Lynn vs. Jimmy Jacobs in un elimination rules match.
Mike Quackenbush tornerà per gli shows del 20 e 21 Marzo.
El Generico non prenderà parte ai primi tv tapings. Vi parteciperrano, fra gli altri, Brent Albright, Brodie Lee, Sara del Rey, Claudio Castagnoli e Necro Butcher.

Lashley-MMA Update
Il secondo combattimento per Bobby Lashley è stato ufficalmente annunciato per il 21 Marzo, allo show che si terrà in Pensacola e vedrà in scena incontri di boxe ed incontri di MMA.
