TNA house show report 1-8 Westbury, NY

By Chris Nadjek

1. Red vs Homicide- I missed this match completely because my brother and best friend screwed up a ticket issue and I was out front at the box office getting my friend a ticket so he could get into the building, so we missed this match but Red was victorious, I was told it was a "pretty good match"

2. Sarita & Wild def Beautiful People- Beautiful People were HUGE over with the fans, especially the men folk. One moron in front of me kept holding up a sign for Taylor Wild so my brother finally asked him to put it down because nobody behind him could see. Match wasn't so great, basic TNA knockouts match with the BP, but prior to the match the BP mocking Sarita and Wilde's pre match posing was pretty funny. They definately came off like stars in person.

3.Desmond Wolf def Christopher Daniels- Good match. Crowd was mildly into it. Not a great 5 star classic but solid match that went rougly 12 to 15 minutes. Both guys were heels so the reaction was mixed although Daniels was taken as more of a face. Finish saw Wolf hit the tower of london on Daniels for the pin. Few near falls before that and submission escapes. Nice match to see live.

4. Pope def Rhino- Decent match. Rhino was given a face reaction and somehow still some ECW chants while Pope was booed during the entrances, then Rhino grabbed the mic and said literally "do you people like me, or the pope" and when people cheered Rhino he said "well I think the Jets suck and I come from a real football town Detroit" (which is hilarious because since Bryan doesn't know sports the Lions have been the worst team in football for a few years and last year didn't win 1 game the entire season lol) and that got him booed. Pope grabbed the mic and cut a promo mentioning "Pope Smacking" rhino and the fans were into it. Finish was Rhino missing a gore and Pope hitting that double knee finisher majiggy and that was that.

5. Mic Foley Promo- Foley came out to do a promo before intermission. He basically mentioned how the arena was far more full than last time he was there. He then talked about his kids and how it was one of his son's birthdays that night and got the entire crowd to sing him happy birthday either as a treat, or he was ribbing his son who i think was embarassed by it, couldn't tell if he was just giving his kid a fun hard time or if his son really got a kick out of it lol, but it was a nice Mic promo, he talked about Monday night a little bit and how minus the fact that he got beat up he liked the show lol..

6. Beer Money def Nash & Young- I was shocked to see Nash work a match like this, but then I was reminded by my brother of his punishment to do house shows lol. In person Nash looked WAY thinner than he has on TV recently. He moved very slow as usual and looked to be in great pain. I'm actually not making fun of the guy he looked very uncomfortable. I don't know if part of it was annoyed he had to work such a small house show venue or whatever but it looked more painful than anything. I noticed on Impact when Hall pushes him to get to hogan during the nWo segment it almost looked like that tiny movement injured Nash's knee. Finish was roode pinning young. Match wasn't anything special. Crowd was into Nash as a big star and Beer Money got a decent reaction

7. Aj Styles def Kurt Angle- Good match, nothing near what they did on Impact or their other TV matches but very good, what you'd expect without Kurt killing himself physically which was understandable. Entire show went about 2 hours which felt really short and for 50 dollar tickets, you felt a little cheated but the last match was by far match of the night.

After the show you got to meet AJ in the ring if you paid 20 bucks for your entire group. So with 4 of us going, 5 bucks a piece was no biggy and we figured what the hell and got to take a picture with AJ and stand in the ring which was kinda cool. They seemed to make a lot of money with this gimmick and AJ was very cordial to the fans, seems like a genuine nice guy.
