Steve Pain nearly escapes
Angélico, Australian Suicide, Jack Evans vs Daga, Eterno, Steve Pain:
Good, but would’ve liked to see this one get a more time to breath a
bit. They really wanted to get to the various singles matches at the end
and it felt like they had to hurry thru the beatdown and the comeback
to get there and fit it all in. There was a lot of good action but very
little of it had enough time to really stick out. Entertaining to see
Jack back up to get a running start on his dive into the ring. Finish
was unintentionally hilarious, with Steve Pain and Jack having to find
some way to grapple with each other for 20 seconds while the submission
took forever to get counted – Tirantes did the very pro wrestling three
arm drop bit on a very MMA choke.

unsure how being kicked in the chest makes you turn over.

Eterno DOWN

Fenix flips onto his head, no sells it, legdrops, sells
Bengala, El Elegido, Fénix vs Hijo del Fantasma, Pentagón Jr., Texano:
Good match, with some sections better than the match prior, though I
think that one holds together better. Bengala didn’t come off as
exception as you’d like for a debuting luchador. He got the pin on the
piledriver at the end and didn’t have any problems, but Fenix had the
highlights. I wonder if Fenix flipping on to his own head changed plans
early on; Benagla never got his early showcase because they went right
to the beatdown after Fenix’s mishap. Elegido didn’t feel like he
belonged here. Rudos all looked fine but it wasn’t their match.
Australaian Suicide had one of the least effective run-ins in some time.

this went much better

the children’s mob finally catches up to Parka
Blue Demon, Electroshock, La Parka vs Chessman, Silver King, Villano IV:
They could’ve taken away some time from this match. This was usual AAA
main event style – rudos attack, técnicos comeback, técnicos get in
their spots forever – stretching it for long. It didn’t all come
together – Demon seemed to want to do the more serious brawling style
with Villano IV, and Parka & Electroshock wanted to just do what
they normally did. (Electroshock tried to brawl, and had some
cringeworthy punches to Villano IV late. He needs to stick with the
slapping.) The dropkick counter to Chessman’s spear was a good idea but
the crowd didn’t really react to it at all. If you’re keeping track at
home, this is a week where they had to do ref distraction spots to
explain the interference and weapons. Join us next week, when it’s
completely different.

incorrect but effective CPR techinque
The Psycho Clown video package which aired before this was a well
done effort. It expanded Psycho’s character beyond just being one of
three wacky Clowns and a smart way to make sure Psycho had a presence on
television even when he didn’t have a match. I would’ve liked to see
them squeeze in one more match to TV, but that was a much smarter use of
time.
