Raw rating

Messa all'asta la "Big Gold"!

SHOMMA REPORT
Daniel Cormier over Gary Frazier via TKO RD 2
Thomas Longacre over Travis Colonac via Decision
Tyron Woodley over Zach Light via ARMBAR RD 2
Ray Sefo over Kevin Jordan via SUB by INJURY
Tim Kennedy over Zac Cummings via NORTH SOUTH CHOKE RD 2

Daniel Cormier vs. Gary Frazier HW

Cormier looks alright here in the first round. Controlled the round with punches. Frazier was afraid to exchange, even ran away from the fight at times. In the 2nd round Frazier did a good job staying away from being taken down, surprise considering Cormier is been built as the best wrestler to come into MMA. Frazier fell trying a knee, Cormier got on top then ground and pounded for the win. Cormier seems to have a lot of charisma, he looked okay in his debut but we have seen better.

Cormier by TKO RD 2

Travis Colonac vs. Thomas Longacre 147 catch weight

Both unbeaten in this fight. Longacre is a kick boxer. His mommy and daddy are here, they help him cut weight .Mom and dad met at a dojo what a story. XFL FW champion Thomas Longacre. Longacre controlled the first half of the round with nice strikes from the outside. Colonac looked in trouble. Colonac’s takedown got stuffed. Colonac then went to a Muay Thai game and started landing some knees to the body. Close round but got to go 10-9 Longacre.

Longacre keeps rd 2 all kickboxing. Colonac fails to close any distance and keeps eating punches. Nothing to powerful but scoring. Colonac had a guillotine attempt at the end but ended up with Longacre on top. 10-9 Longacre. Longacre got a takedown to start rd 3 decided to stand back up. Longacre again controlled the stand up with nice combos. Longacre in another 10 - 9.

Longacre by DEC 30-27 all three

Tyron Woodley vs. Zach Light WW

Light is 6-8 in MMA. Wrestling trainer at Bisping’s camp. Woodley is 3-0 and from American Top Team. Woodley got a big slam a couple minutes in. Woodley has great control throughout, he went for a arm triangle it looked tight, but Light survived it. Woodley with the mount but unable to finish Light. 10-9 or 10-8 Woodley. Woodley with an overhand right he comes into close as Light falls, but can’t again. Fails with the arm triangle two more times. Light gets back up again, Woodley with another huge slam Woodley pulls off an arm bar while Light tried to scramble. Woodley looks awesome at 170 considering how small the talent pool is. He has subs, he has takedowns, and the standup. His only problem, in this fight seemed to be securing the subs for a finish but eventually got the arm bar.

Woodley by ARMBAR RD 2.

Ray Sefo Vs Kevin Jordan HW

Sefo the legendary kick boxer, taking on former UFC fighter Kevin Jordan going 0-2 there. Jordan went for a takedown but Sefo landed on top. Sefo makes a huge mistake and went for mount. Jordan ends up on top of Sefo and Sefo is helpless but survives the round. Jordan goes for a takedown in the 2nd but hurts his knee. Jordan has to tap out, and Sefo gets away with a win here.

Ray Sefo by Injury caused SUB RD 2

Tim Kennedy Vs Zac Cummings MW
Kennedy is the special forces military person coming back to MMA. This is his second fight back. Kennedy gets a takedown and just dominates Cummings. Cummings has no answer for Kennedy on him, Kennedy is taking positions as he pleases. Cummings still survives the round though. 10-9 or 10-8 Tim Kennedy. Some standup going both ways in the 2nd round. Kennedy goes for a standing choke that led to Kennedy having position on the ground and Kennedy was able to sink in a north south choke.

STRIKEFORCE CHALLENGERS SERIES ON SHOWTIME, Tulsa, OK 09/25/2009

Mauro, Zombie Quadros, and Miletich on the call.

DANIEL CORMIER (0-0, 250.2) vs. GARY FRAZIER (0-0, 245.2)

Amateur superstar wrestler Cormier makes his MMA debut as does the opponent. Both these guys could drop some weight.

I tag in a little late and the 1st round is about halfway. Cormier is all over Frazier on the ground pounding away. Frazier escapes and they're up. He looks terrified. He looks like the better striker but afraid to let his hands go. Not much happening standing. They say Cormier won the round.

Not much going on boxing here. Cormier goes for a single, Frazier runs away. More bad boxing. Clinch. Frazier amazingly stuffs the waistlift. Cormier drops Frazier with a right into sitting high HG. Pounding. Mount. Picking his shots. Back. Hooks. Pancake and pounding. Ref steps in.

Not great. Cormier needs a lot of work. Have to call this a bit of a disappointment compared to the debuts of other high level wrestlers (Brock, Mo, etc.) Quadros twitching a lot on the postfight.

THOMAS LONGACRE (4-0, 148) vs. TRAVIS CALANOC (4-0, 146.6)

Calanoc (pronounced, apparently, 'colonic') at 147 catch. Colonic was in the Marines. Quadros blowing his prepared monologue again. These guys are both local Okies. Longacre has kickboxed. 5 years older and 3.5" in reach.

Both missing by miles. Longacre not as much. He's stalking. Rattles Colonic with a combo. Starting to pick him apart. Stuffs a shot. Knees from clinch. Counters off a rush. Colonic operating by divine inspiration. Colonic lands a hail mary left hook. Longacre rocked. Things momentarily even up on the trading. Longcare taking back over but slips, but ends up on top in HG. Stands out. Lands a couple more. Longacre 10-9.

Longacre sharpshoots. Colonic momentarily changes stance. Now keeps changing, confused. Colonic finally gets in a knee from clinch. Gets wild again and is made to pay. Longacre setting him up, body head. LKs. Colonic throwing pushy karate side kicks, nada. Longacre dumps him, lets him up. Picks him apart. Colonic lands, Longacre shoots. Colonic grabs and loses Guillotine. HG. Longacre lets him up. Flurries at the bell. Longacre maybe 10-8.

Longacre has the range now. Colonic reduced to hail marys. Gets TDed into SM. Longacre lets him up. Colonic throwing spin backfists, desperate. Bad karate. Longacre picking his shots. Colonic tries to pull Guillotine, nada. FG. Goes for triangle. Not bad and Longacre gets outta Dodge. Colonic gets in a knee from clinch but is in slo mo now. Longacre gassed too but remains much more accurate as they slug out the last seconds. 10-9 and 30-27 or 26. Judges go 30-27 X 3.

Okay fight. Commentators trying to make it sound technically better than it was.

TYRON WOODLEY (3-0, 171) vs. ZACH LIGHT (6-8, 170.4)

Both All American wrestlers in college and juco respectively. Light calls himself a bar fighter. Great. 'I'm fighting for my kids.' Great. Sub .500 record, maybe you should get a job for your kids. Wrestling coach at Wolfslair? LOLOLOL. Isn't that like a nonexistent job? Woodley trains at ATT. That should be enough right there. He fights for his family too. Yay. 3-0 all subs including a D'Arce. Quadros having mouth trouble again. Woodley has all advantages.

Light all herky jerky. Woodley stakes out the center. Left hook counter. Making Light step about 3-1. Looking to time him. Shoots, big double slam. HG. Drops his weight, tries to pass. Takes head shots when he can get them. Drives to the fence. Jams Light into it. Light tries to walk up. Woodley mounts. G&P. Arm triangle. Knee on belly, needs to go to other side. Mount, drops the choke. Woodley all over him. Light can't get him off. Woodley drops a couple bombs at the bell. Woodley 10-8.

Woodley stakes out the center. lands a jab. Light missing. Woodley HK short. Right lead lands. Suckers Light into a knee. Flash KD right hand. Double leg slam. Mount. Arm triangle again. Knee on belly. Back to mount. G&P. Woodley drives to the fence. There's the arm triangle again. Still not slipping the right direction. Back to mount. G&P and Light makes it up. Woodley bangs punch kick double leg. Mount. Arm bar. That's that.

Wolfslair's 'wrestling coach' sure got a wrestling (and grappling) lesson.

Woodley bears watching. Looks like the real deal.

RAY SEFO (1-0, 240.8) vs. KEVIN JORDAN (11-7, 236.6)

Veteran K1 fringe contender, once top contender Sefo weighed in with his shirt on, that's never good. Jordan at 38 has just started being a full time fighter, giving it one last shot. Has been in UFC. Big guy. 6' 3 1/2". Beat Pat Smith in his last fight. Pat is like... 48? Plans to clinch and grapple. Good idea. Sefo also 38. Looks 10 years younger than Jordan. Knows what Jordan plans to do. Ray couple pounds heavier but only 6' even and gives up about the same in reach. Looks a little heavy.

Ray LK right away. Again and Jordan shoots off it but Ray reverses into HG. FG. Jordan reverses into SM. Drops shots. Stuffs a sweep. Knees the body. Pounds the head. Americana. Ray gets out. Jordan pounds the head some more. Mounts. Pounding. Sefo goes to his side. Jordan flattens him on his back again. Raining shots. Ray rolling with the punches, surviving. Jordan elbow. Jordan 10-8.

Jordan shoots, Ray stuffs. Jordan goes down awkward and his knee is blown out. S'what happens when ya get old. It's over. Feh. Shitty win for Sefo. Needs to stick to kickboxing.

TIM KENNEDY (10-2, 186) vs. ZAK CUMMINGS (10-0, 186)

Kennedy broke a 2 year layoff (fighting in Iraq & Afghanistan, Green Beret) in June with an upset (at the time) tap from strikes of Nick Thompson. Cummings' biggest win is Terry Martin. Here's Zak and... jeez I hope that's his mom and not his wife. Oh good, yeah. Here's Tim. 5 years older but looks younger. There's his Green Beret. Looks to be the stronger of the two. Height weight and reach about even.

This is the only fight that gets a full intro from Jimmy Jr. The rest he does the intros as they enter and then just intros the ref before the fight starts.

Zak lefty. Looks a bit taller. Tim HK short, LK caught. Body kick. Shoots, gets the double. Zak on the arm, nada. HG. Tim gets Brock position (actually Tim used it before Brock did), drops shots. Pins the arm. Takes the shots he can get. Grinds the forearm. Takes back. One hook. Pounds. Mount. Back. Tim letting his hands go. Back. Both hooks. Pancake. HG. Knee on belly. Tim grinding away. Zak doing good to survive. Mount. Back. Both hooks. Punching up from under. Mount. Back. Tres quatro. Cha cha cha. Bang bang bang. Zak sits out and escapes at the bell. Tim 10-8.

Tim kicks the body. Left hook. 2-1. Body kick. Zak HK short. Tim right counter. Zak right hook. Tim LK. Zak counters. Clinch, nada. Both guys have their heads too high. Zak starting to get his shots off more. Tim right, HK, right. Grabs Guillotine. Zak escapes and grabs a leg. Hook lands. Tim lands a hard combo to the head. Zak busted up and shoots and Tim grabs the choke. Rolls to NS. Zak taps.

Good fight. Zak ain't bad. Tim says he doesn't want to fight him a year from now. Miletich says Tim should get the Shields-Mayhem winner (Tim is 1-1 with Mayhem). Uh... what about that Jacare guy?

Kevin Jordan may have a torn quad tendon.

So so card. Cormier and Sefo disappointed. Tim and Tyron impressed. Mauro keeps getting worse. Quadros not getting better. Miletich knows his shit but it forced to shill too much but there's a whole lotta that going on in MMA commentary these days...

Rilascio a sorpresa in TNA!

Backstage Brawl in WWE~!

Sabato, nel corso dell'house show al Manuel Iguina Coliseum in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, è scaturita una rissa fra Big Show e Great Khali.

DRAGON GATE USA IN CHICAGO LIVE REPORT

DRAGON GATE USA IN CHICAGO LIVE REPORT
by Matt Carter @ 8:49 AM on 9/7/2009

The first thing I noticed is that it was a huge internet wrestling crowd. Very VERY smart fans. Its amazing how Gabe can book for this kind of crowd and put a huge one over on all of us (that's coming up)

I did watch the DGUSA PPV on Friday night, so I had a bit of an idea what to expect with the action. I had never been to the Congress Theatre. Interesting venue for wrestling. Its a large concert hall. At one time, it was probably awesome. Now all the seats are tore out and its a concert pit.

The ring was right up next to the stage. There was one row of seats in front of the stage. The wrestlers all made their entrance from a "tunnel" on the stage under a video screen.

I had a Golden Ticket so I got in early (around 4:20 pm). To my surprise Gabe was the one giving directions on where to go (in my case anyway). I walked right past good ol' JR and the King at the Highspots table.

Our Bonus Match was FRAY! It started around 4:35 pm.

It started with Hallowicked and Arik Cannon, followed by Louis Lyndon, Prince Mustafa Ali, Shiima Xion, Johnny Gargono, The Great Malaki, and Flip Kendrick. I may have a couple mixed up. Hallowicked took a beating from everyone. Prince Mustafa Ali looked good and Flip Kendrick didn't (just my opinion). The last two in the match were Hallowicked and Johnny Gargano with Gargano getting the win (to most everyone's surprise).

We counted down the start of the PPV and got going around 6 pm.

Match 1 Dragon Kid over Masato Yoshino

This match seemed even more fun than the PPV match. Crazy speed from these two guys. Great way to get the night started!

Match 2 Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw over YAMATO and Gran Akuma

Yamato and Akuma had great heat before they even walked out to the ring. Everyone else watched the PPV too! A really fun match with a bit of comedy and some good wrestling.

Match 3 Nauki Doi over Bryan Danielson

Danielson was given no intro. He came out first after our live host said, "and this man needs no introduction". The lights went out and out came The Dragon. Lots of "Best In The World" chants. No Europe...so some fans sang it during the intro. During the match Danielson was wicked nasty with Doi's arm. In the end, Doi was just too much

After the match, Danielson cut a promo. He said goodbye to the Indies without really saying goodbye...but the entire crowd knew what was up. He wanted everyone to support independent wrestling. He also put over Davey Richards in a BIG WAY! Saying he is the next to be called "Best In The World".

Now we go to intermission. Danielson was doing autographs for cash. I saw Dragon Kid, Yamamoto, Doi, and Yoshino all doing autographs as well.

Match 4 CIMA over Brian Kendrick

Lots of love for Kendrick from the fans. Plenty of Spanky chants. Fun match with both guys working hard. Great way to get the crowd back into the show.

Match 5 Davey Richards over Shingo

This match was simply amazing. These two beat the tar out of each other in and out of the ring. There were so many near falls at the end. Multiple "This Is Awesome" chants. Even a couple "Please don't stop" and a faint "Match of The Year". This could be the best match I have ever seen live. I can't say much more.

After the match, Davey gets the mic. Since Danielson's promo and the way the match went, Davey was the fan favorite. Everyone was loving him. He wanted Danielson to come out and confirm that he is the "next Best In The World". Davey made some small talk thanking Bryan and then out of the blue decks him and gives him a beat down. Davey screams "I
don't need anyone's endorsement". Says he is coming back after the title.

During the entire night, I didn't notice Gabe Sapolsky watching any matches. During this promo time, Gabe was in the entrance tunnel. I saw him pump his fists in the air as Davey's beatdown started. He fooled everyone in there....and that isn't easy.

After this match and the promo...its going to be hard to follow this up

Match 6 Main Event (Non Title) Genki Horiguchi and Ryo Saito over The Young Bucks

This was a great tag team match. It might not have been as good as the Bucks did in the PPV, but I could habe been a bit burnt from the Richards match. Lots of fun spots and even some blue mist that gives us the finish.

I am sure others can go into better detail.

The Young Bucks got some interview time about being "not the best tag team of the future but the present" during which Jimmy Jacobs showed up with Prince Mustafa Ali at his side looking to "recruit" wrestlers. The guys told Jimmy no and got a beat down. As for the crowd, very hot crowd through the night. I saw some familiar faces from IWA-MS and ROH shows in Chicago. The venue was no where near sold out. The entire balcony was closed off. That in mind, the seats were all full that were set up. This venue can easily handle double (possibly triple) tonight's crowd...which is pretty handy because they announced a return to Chicago and the Congress on January 23rd! I'll be there.

Next time, I may not spring for the ring side seats...here is why...if you are not on a camera side your view is RUINED ALL NIGHT. They had 7...that is right 7 STILL photographers PLUS 2 video cameras ring side. 9 people in your way all night was not fun...so way pay the extra?

TNA News

Rilascio a sorpresa in TNA~!
