CM Punk just announced on
Twitter that legendary New York City band Living Colour will be playing
his "Cult of Personality" theme song live when he enters the ring this
Sunday at Wrestlemania.
Living Colour is currently on tour and as it turned out, they are
playing NYC this week and Wrestlemania fit perfectly into a break in
their touring schedule.
Punk used "Cult of Personality" while he was ROH champion and had WWE get the rights to the song when he re-negotiated his new contract in the summer of 2011. The song was meant as a nod to his "Summer of Punk" run in ROH, elements of which were used during his Money in the Bank run.
Living Colour's lead singer, Corey Glover, discussed Punk using the song in an interview last week with Lehigh Valley Live in Pennsylvania, noting, "WWE usually doesn't use outside music. It was a very rare occasion. (C.M. Punk) called our reps to see if he could use the music. It was in the right place and time, that's for sure. It has the bombastic (quality) that (his personality) calls for."
Now, he gets a bombastic ring entrance with one of the best NYC punk rock bands of the last 25 years.
