AAA house show report 3-27 Fresno

AAA house show report 3-27 Fresno

Just wanted to give an arena report from the AAA Lucha Libre show here in Fresno. The event took place Friday night (3/27) and was actually a pretty good show. It was my first time attendinng AAA, and I don't speak spanish, but I was still able to follow the show and the matches for the most part. The show was scheduled to start at 7:30pm, but did not start until 8:00pm, not sure what the delay was. The crowd was hot for most of the matches, and everyone was cheered, so I'm not sure who the faces and the heels were since it was difficult to judge on the crowd reaction, just some wrestlers were cheered more then the others. The show started with a video tribute to the late Abismo Negro and the crowd gave a standing ovation for the tribute. The show then started with a promo between Konnan and Crazy Boy, not sure what was said, but I think the storyline was that Konnan was kicked out of the building for the night. Konnan was in street clothes, walked with a limp, and looked really tired by the way. After the promo we then saw 5 matches, all matches were mostly 6 man tag matches, with 1 singles match. The match/ups were the following and in the following order:

Deccnis & Mini Abismo Negro

VS

Pimpinella & Mascarita Segrada

(Match was won by Deccnis & Mini Negro, my first time seeing a match that involved a tag team of a midget and transvestite)

Crazy Boy & SuperFly VS. Joe Lider & Jack Evans

(Match won by Crazy & Fly)

Silver King VS. Vampiro

(Match won by Vampiro)

Chessman, La Parka, Laredo Kidd
VS
Psycho, Zombie, & Killer Clown

(The match was won by the clowns)

Main Event was
Cibernetico, El Mesias, & Charly Manson
VS
Dark Ozz, Dark Cuervo, & Dark Scorria

(Match won by Mesias, Manson, Cibernetico)

Other notes:
The crowd cheered for everyone but the biggest pop of the night went to El Mesias, who was really over and just a huge monster in person. I remember him from TNA as Judas, and he is bigger now then back then. I have to say Jack Evans did not get much of a crowd reaction, I think because he is not really a Lucha star but more of an american star since they did not really pop for him. But my god, his moves were just incredible, almost unbelievable moves he was doing out there, by far the most talented of the whole crew I thought, he was really working his ass off. I then had the pleasure of seeing Vampiro "The Snake" Roberts, uh, I mean Vampiro. I have not seen him since his WCW days, what a fall from grace. He did not have the face paint or long dreads anymore. He had a buzz cut, was heavy, moved really slow, and appeared to be really out of it. He got a good pop from the crowd, but he just really looked bad. All of the matches were good, the opening match with the transvestite (Pimpinella) was a comedy match, as was the clowns / La Parka match, but the other matches all had a serious tone. The crew and wrestlers all looked tired, maybe from the travel? The crowd was a ton of kids since kids that were 10 or younger were admitted free. The ring set up was good for a house show, but I just don't like the octogon ring for pro wrestling, it works for MMA but not for wrestling, I don't like the ring in TNA for that matter either. Anyway, It was a good show, lasted about 3 hrs. I thought some of the show would be in english since they are on an american tour, but everything was in spanish from the ring announcing to the video packages they presented. My first time with AAA, but I enjoyed the show. Jack Evans is a superstar in the making, and should be the TNA X division champion right now, he is that talented. Mesias is a monster and was the most over with the biggest pop.
