TNA house show report 11-23 Glasgow, Scotland

By Craig Broadfoot

I was in attendance at the TNA House Show in Glasgow tonight at the Braehead Arena.

The building was nowhere near full, with a lot more kids in attendance than last year. The top section of the arena was curtained, same as last year. They had a Titantron, huge lighting rig above the ring and, oh yes, we had six sides.

Borash did the 'backstage pass' speech, saying that the loudest fans would get backstage. For a small crowd, it's super hot, much louder than the standard WWE house shows in the same building. Borash did the announcing for the evening. Mark 'Slick' Johnson was the evening's referee.

1) The Amazing Red pinned Chris Sabin in an X-Division contenders match, with a standing shooting star press. Bout went about 8 minutes. Good match, with the usual cool spots from the X-Division.

2) TNA Global Champion Eric Young pinned Suicide in 8:30 with a piledriver. Match was okay. Suicide beat up Young after the match.

Borash brought a guy out of the crowd to introduce the special guest referee for the next match...referee Earl Hebner. He came out to Tommy Dreamer's ECW theme. That made no sense.

3) Hernandez pinned Rhino in 7:30. Hebner called it straight down the middle. Match was fine.

4) Kurt Angle beat Daniels and Desmond Wolfe in a Three Way match in 11:00, when he pinned Wolfe with the Angle Slam. Really good match, told a good story with the heels double teaming throughout until the end when they double crossed each other.

INTERMISSION

5) Hamada pinned Sarita in about 7 minutes with a Michinoku Driver. Taylor Wilde accompanied Sarita to the ring. Match was passable, spots were good when they hit them but the transitions felt very clunky. Hebner was the referee, but not 'special guest' this time.

6) Team 3D beat Beer Money Inc. and The British Invasion (with Big Rob) in a Three Way Tables match, when they 3D'd Magnus through a table. Match went roughly 13 minutes and had very good heat throughout. Everyone got mic time prior to the match, establishing Invasion as heels. Note: Doug Williams did not come out with the X-Divison title. Match was mostly Beer Money vs Invasion with 3D waiting on the apron. They didn't get the table involved until the last spot. Beer Money were actually more over than 3D. Bubba gave a kid a piece of table after the match, Team 3D and Beer Money celebrated together and for a brief moment all was right with the world.

The next time TNA come back to Glasgow, they're going to film TV. Honestly. It must be true because Borash said it.

7) TNA World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles pinned Samoa Joe. Hebner was special referee again. In the end Hebner got bumped and Joe locked on the Kokina Clutch and Styles tapped. Hebner didn't see it. Styles hit Joe with a low blow and Styles Clash for the pin. Went 12:30. Fairly disappointing showing from these two. Styles did a Nature Boy promo after the match, asking for the ladies to call him. Joe chased him to the back.

Overall a good TNA show, good in ring action. Usual TNA bullshit at points but they kept us entertained for the duration.

Cheers guys!
