Here's what you need to know about NXT:
-They
have a champion, it's Seth Rollins, aka the former Tyler Black. For
weeks after he was called up NXT was in an Alternate Universe where he
was not here to Shield us against injustice. That all changed on 12/27
as they acknowledged it for the first time ever.
-Dusty Rhodes is the Authority Figure, but his job title seems to change from week to week.
-They have a seemingly always rotating announce table, but the most consistent thing is Jim Ross in the main event.
-NXT
has this fun habit of editing matches from different tapings together
and not bothering to try to hide it. That's why you will sometimes have a
pink middle rope for one match and it won't be there for the next match
-Big
E. Langston refused to go to Raw with Vickie Guerrero so he waited for
AJ to invite him to go to Raw...after she lost power. He is now the only
man who can shield us from The Shield.
-The
insanely popular Paige, Emma, Audrey Marie and Sasha Banks are the only
four NXT Diva's and depending on the week Paige and Audrey are either
trying to team up to prove they are better than the WWE Diva's or
attacking each other.
-Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Rowan (Husky Harris, Brodie Lee and Erick Rowan) have formed a weird family.
-Kassius
Ohno and Leo Kruger have formed an alliance and seemed determined to
get William Regal to drop the headset and get in the ring.
-Camacho desperately needs $5,000 to break Hunico out of Mexico. Are plane tickets really that expensive?
And that's everything you need to know about NXT. (Now we know!) (And knowing is half the battle) (G.I. Joe!)
-We
begin by looking at a video from last week where Reigns and Ambrose
saved Seth Rollins from losing the title to Corey Graves. The Shield
managed to destroy the entire locker room before being ran off by Big E.
Langston, setting up a No Disqualification Title Match tonight!
1.)
The Family (Luke Harper & Erick Rowan w/Bray Wyatt watching from
afar) defeated Yoshi Tatsu & Percy Watson in 4:13. Bray starts the
match by giving a speech about family. Percy and Yoshi managed to hold
their own for about 45 seconds, but were quickly destroyed by their
larger, much stronger opponents. Now that The Ascension is not a thing
anymore, these two have ascended (see what I did there) into my favorite
NXT team. Harper took Percy's head off with a boot to the head. Yoshi
missed his spinning wheel kick from the top rope and Luke picked up the
win with a corner splash and a discuss clothesline.
2.)
Paige pinned Emma in 2:39. Will Lance Storm's protege be the one to
knock off the undefeated Paige? Emma covers her ears when Paige comes
out. Apparently she is not used to hearing people get a reaction. Emma
hurt the knee of Paige early on and worked on it throughout the match.
Emma debuted this wacky dance where she rocked back and forth. Emma pays
tribute to her trainer by slapping on the Single Leg Crab, which gives
Mr. Regal a chance to name drop Lance Storm. Paige breaks the crab,
no-sells all the work on her knee and pins Emma with the Paige Turner.
3.)
Primo & Epico defeated Bo Dallas & Michael McGillicutty in
10:12. So McGillicutty is now a baby face. Primo and Epico have their
new theme, but no Rosa this week, which is all the fans want to see. The
match was quite dull through the commercial break as McGillicutty spent
most of it on offense, using the dreaded rear chin lock. This would
continue after the break as Bo had tagged in and had on a rear chin lock
of his own. Just before I thought this would become a ten minute squash
match, the brothers Colon used what was described as “Family Rapport”
to take over. My computer died when Primo tagged in. luckily for you,
the reader, all my witty jokes were saved. The Colon's hit a Side
Russian Leg Sweep/Leg Sweep combo on Bo for a two. Eventually Bo makes
the cold tag to Michael. MMG runs mild, but the Colon's somehow, someway
pick up the win when Primo beat MMG with a Back Stabber.
4.)
In a No Disqualification Match Big E. Langston won the NXT Championship
from Seth Rollins in. Rollins is the only NXT Champion and comes out on
his own, without Reigns or Ambrose. Seth tries to ground Big, but gets
pressed up over Langston's head and dropped outside the ring. Out runs
The Shield only a minute in to provide assistance for their man. After
helping him take the advantage Reigns and Ambrose wait outside the ring
while Rollins beats on Big inside the ring. Langston fired up and hit
clotheslines on all three men. He went for his move on Seth and Ambrose
and Reigns hit the ring and we have a three on one beat down. OR DO
WE!?! Men from the locker room run in to help and slowly over power Dean
Ambrose and Roman Reigns, taking them from the arena. Meanwhile in the
ring Rollins almost picked up the win with the flipping neck breaker
that Ultimo Dragon used to use. He went for a second one, but Big
reversed it into his move for the win!
Ladies and Gentlemen, Big E. Langston is your champion! The locker room runs down to celebrate with Big as the belt is placed around his waist. The king is dead, long live the new king of NXT!
