TNA NEWS: Impact Wrestling TV ratings dips this week!

The live TNA Impact on Thursday, March 28 scored a 1.03 rating, down slightly from the past two weeks (1.07 ratings) and down one-tenth of a rating from three weeks ago (1.13 rating).

It was the first Impact to round down to a 1.0 in over one month dating back to February 21.

Impact also declined in viewership, averaging 1.31 million viewers compared to 1.39 million viewers last week. It was the fewest viewers since Feb. 14.

On cable TV Thursday night, Impact ranked #33 in overall viewers, #25 among males 18-34, and #16 among males 18-49. Impact took a big hit in the key male demos, declining two-tenths of a rating in m18-34 and m18-49.

Impact was up against the Sweet 16 Round of the NCAA Tournament, which drew about 7.0 million viewers on broadcast and cable TV. Impact was also opposed by History's "Swamp People," which averaged 4.6 million viewers and drew in Spike TV's ideal future audience of both adult males and females.

One year ago this week, the March 29, 2012 Impact scored a 1.05 overall rating and scored one-tenth of a rating higher in the key adult demos.

Caldwell's Analysis: Last year this week, Impact was not on the road and Impact was not live, so those "dangling carrots" have yet to produce week-to-week ratings growth for Impact. Live vs. Taped doesn't make a difference, whereas being on the road should produce fruit in the long-term once the audience picks up on TNA looking & feeling like a bigger deal in an actual arena.

It comes down to the Creative and Marketing, especially giving top babyfaces some credibility for the audience to get behind them while simultaneously erasing seven or eight months of booking Aces & Eights like bumbling henchmen before trying to flip the switch with Bully Ray at Lockdown.
