TNA house show report 1-24 Nottingham

Hi Dave,

Attended the TNA show for the second successive year in Nottingham. Arena was by no means full but slightly up on last year.

First match saw Chavo and Hernandez defeat Daniels and Kazarian.
This was the highlight of the first half.
Bad Influence are so smooth out there. They worked some comedy spots early on including Kazarian putting Daniels in an arm ringer unknowingly while their opponents looked on. Finish saw Chavo hit the frog splash to win.

Mention of British BootCamp saw RockStar Spud against Marty Scurll. This, predictably, got the least reaction but was decent. Spud won with a handful of tights.

Velvet Sky got her own intro as referee of a women's tag between The Blossom Twins and Gail Kim and Tara. Lots of arguing between The two heels - which didn't make much sense considering what was to come later - but it played into the finish when they argued, the faces switched, and they got the win with a small package. Velvet cleaned house on the heels including a spot where she grabbed Gail, landed on her ass, but Gail failed to do the same. Looked horrible.

RVD v Zema Ion was short but fine. Van Dam did all the usual spots and won with a frog splash.

After the break was Austin Aries and Bobby Roode v James Storm and Magnus. Roode came out with 'The Bad Boy Of Darts', Paul Nicholson, who wore shades. More arguing partners, while Magnus got a good but not overwhelming reaction. Big reaction for Storm. Roode is an excellent worker who is switched on all of the time. Storm hit the super kick then Magnus the elbow for the win.

We waited a good 15 minutes as they put up the cage, time which Borash filled well with working the crowd.

Once they fixed the cage, We had Doc and D-Von v Sting and Angle. Same as before with Angle laid out by Mike Knox, before eventually getting in the cage. Another Aces member - who looked overweight - came out with a hammer before Bully Ray made the save. Finish saw Angle and Sting put Doc through a table that Aces had brought into the cage.,Bully's only real explanation was that Sting had had his back over the past month or so. Young child was then brought in to get a piece of the broken table. Crowd ate all of this up.

Thanks,

Sam Parker.

TNA House Show Report - Nottingham Arena - 24/01/13

Considering the terrible weather over the last few days, it's a pretty
good turn out.

JB is your host for the evening.

1) World Tag Team Championship - Kaz & Daniels vs Chavo & Hernandez

The crowd is hot for Chavo - terrific yay/boo alternate posing with
Daniels. Those two start and it's good fast paced action. The crowd
pops for everything Chavo does. Daniels eventually gets control, but
the double team tactics soon backfire. Kaz and Daniels look like
they're having fun tonight and are awesome heels. The end comes when
Chavo hits the three amigos on Daniels, followed shortly by the frog
splash. 12 mins. Three stars.

JB plugs British Boot Camp.

2) Rock Star Spud vs Marty Scurll

Both guys get a mixed reaction with a lot of boos. No heat early. Not
much later either. Biggest pop is Earl Hebner shoving down Spud. After
a few spots Spud gets the win with a roll up, holding the tights. 8
mins. 1 and a quarter stars.

I've seen Spud have far better matches on indie shows. They need to let
him cut promos, and should have done here.

JB talks about British Boot Camp 2

3) Tara & Gail vs Blossum Twins with Velvet as Guest Referee

Velvet is very over with the crowd here.

Quality lock up to start the match between Tara and a Blossum. (The
bright pink fluffy lower leg warmers Velvet's wearing are very
distracting).Tara overpowers Blossums early, then Gail tags in and is
working hard and looking good. Blossums finally make a hot tag to a big
pop, but Tara and Gail soon overwhelm them again. Gail has the pin but
Tara pulls her off - a tag team that doesn't get along! Blossum's do
the switch as Gail and Tara argue, then Gail is pinned with a roll up.
9 mins. Two stars.

Blossum's get beaten down after the match, but Velvet makes the save,
and ends up giving Tara the pedigree.

4) X-Divison Title - RVD vs Zema Ion

RVD wins with the rolling thunder and frog splash. 9 mins. Two and a
quarter stars.

Intermission.

5) Aries and Roode vs Storm and Magnus,

Storm cuts the first promo of the night.

A fun match with strong support for Storm, but also Aries, with
duelling chants at times. Roode saves Aries from a superkick, but not
for long as he then accidently spits beer in his face. Aries eats the
superkick this time, Magnus hits a flying elbow and gets the pin.
14mis. Three and a half stars.

Post match beer bash with Storm and Magnus.

JB entertains the crowd as the cage is built. JB was really, really
good tonight.

6) D'von & DOC vs Angle and Sting.

Difficult to see much of what was going on due to the cage and the
lighting. I think a third A&8's guy jumped Angle, leaving Sting in the
cage on his own for a two on one beating that went on for five or six
minutes. Finally Angle gets in the cage to a big pop. Ref bump in the
cage! Another A&8's guys is out with a weapon. Angle is down but kicks
out at 2.8. A&8's are bringing tables into the cage!! It's four on two
(I think). Bully Ray runs in to make the save. D'von through a table.
Another A&8's dude through a table. Angle pins him! 10 mins. 2 stars.

Post match Bully Ray cuts a promo, and they pull a young child out of
the crowd into the ring and give him a piece of broken table that
Bully, Kurt and Sting all sign.

As it was designed to set up that feel good finish, I'll forgive them
for the overbooked main event. Not as good as last years Nottingham
show, but still fun and a thumbs up.

By Matt Barker

Chavo and Hernandez beat Daniels and Kazarian
Spud beat Marty Scurll
Blossom Twins beat Gail Kim and Tara
RVD beat Zema Ion

James Storm and Magnus beat Austin Aries and Bobby Roode
Sting and Kurt Angle beat DOC and Devon in a cage

Attendance was poor, arena was half cut off with the entrance way, then lots of spare seats. Bo wonder they arent coming back next year. By far the worst TNA show ive been too. Semi main was good, rest were average or slightly above. Main event was awful, it took longer to get the cage up, than the match lasted.
