At the UFC press conference currently going on in Chicago, Dana White
announced the retirement of Matt Hughes. This wasn't unexpected as
Hughes hasn't fought in some time and it was known that both White and
Hughes' wife had been encouraging him to retire.
Hughes will take a new position as a liaison between fighters and
management, essentially as part of a talent relations department to
encourage fighters not to do stupid things as UFC announced a code of
conduct policy for fighters. They've always had it but it appears it's
going to be taken more seriously as company attorney Laurence Epstein
made an announcement today specifically addressing the issue.
