ROH champion Jay Briscoe
deleted his Twitter after he came under fire for crude comments made
about his home State of Delaware legalizing same sex marriage.
Briscoe wrote, "The Delaware Senate passed a bill yesterday that
allows same sex couples to get married. If that makes you happy, then
congratulations!!!!!!"
He then followed up with, "... try and teach my kids that there's nothing wrong with that and I'll f**ing shoot you"
Several hours later, Briscoe responded to fan outcry online, noting that he was responding to the idea that anyone but his family should teach his children about the issue and admitted he chose his words poorly. Later on, he deleted the Twitter account.
Briscoe came under fire in 2011 for using a homophobic slur via Twitter when describing visiting New York City to compete on an ROH event the same day as the Gay Pride Parade.
Ring of Honor issued the following statement:
"Ring of Honor Wrestling respects and appreciates every fan regardless of age, gender, race, religion or sexual preference. The recent post by Jay Briscoe does not represent the views or opinions of Ring of Honor Wrestling, its owners, management or employees."
